As we prepare for the NAEC Convention and Trade Show October 4-7 in New Orleans, we are working hard to provide the safest possible experience for our members. Our team has been in close contact with the New Orleans Convention Bureau and the Governor’s office. The following is an overview of the current state of Covid-19 in Louisiana.
• On Monday, August 2nd, Governor Edwards reinstated a statewide mask mandate for indoor events through September 1.
• Although Louisiana ranks last in vaccinations nationwide, New Orleans has the highest vaccination rate in the state of Louisiana with just over 71.4% of adults aged 18 and older having at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
• 64.7% of all New Orleans residents are fully vaccinated.
• 94% of cases in the state since July have occurred in people who have not received vaccinations.
• The CDC is confirming that less than 1% of those fully vaccinated have any breakthrough infections.
At this time, there is no indication that further mandates or travel limits will be imposed. We will continue to monitor the situation and post regular updates on the NAEC website. We look forward to a safe, successful and fun event in October.
